Bound Brook Hometown Heroes Program

The Bound Brook Revitalization Partnership is once again honoring Bound Brook’s Service Members and First Responders! This program is a living tribute for our community to honor past and present members of the Armed Forces, First Responders and their family members. The banners honoring our town’s heroes will be displayed proudly on the lamp posts Downtown. These banners serve as a great reminder to the community about the town’s past and present heroes. The deadline for submission is September 25th.
 
 

The criteria for the displays is as follows:

1.The person sponsoring the banner must prove the person whose picture is to be featured on the banner is or was a veteran. A veteran is defined based on Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations, which defines a veteran as “a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.”

2.The service member must have either:

  • Served in one of the five military services that are recognized by the United States Department of Defense. These are the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
  • Be a police officer or fireman that was killed in the line of duty.
  • Furthermore, the time period of active duty served must be between the start of WWI to present day.

3.The service member whose picture is to be displayed must have been a Bound Brook resident at the time of service or have resided in Bound Brook after his or her service time.

4.The picture submitted by the applicant that will appear on the banner must be of the person in their military/dress uniform.

5.The service member must have received a discharge classified as either Honorable Discharge or its equivalent.

6.Must be verified by Department of Defense- Forms include: DD214 or DD215 as well as Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty before January 1, 1950 such as WD AGO 53, WD AGO 55, WD AGO 53-55, WD AGO 53-98, NAVPERS 78, and the NAVCG 553.

7.All banners and supporting documents will be reviewed for accuracy and confirmation.

8.The fee for the banner is $85 to be paid by the applicant at the time of submission approval. Checks can be made payable to Bound Brook Revitalization Partnership. The mailing address is 18 Mountain Avenue, Bound Brook, NJ 08805.
